As part of our ongoing commitment to our client, Thursfields offers a secure document storage facility based in our Kidderminster office. Thursfields stores various types of original documents for clients including Wills, Powers of Attorney (LPA) and Property Deeds.
If you think we may be holding original Will/LPA documents that you would like to access, please complete this form Authority to Release Original Document and post to Wills Retrieval Request, Thursfields, 14 Church Street, Kidderminster, DY10 2AH. We will respond within 10 -15 working days of receipt.
If you have provided satisfactory evidence of your identification, we will arrange to post the original document (by Recorded Delivery) to the address you have provided on the form. If you are retrieving your own documents, there is currently no charge. If you are retrieving documents for another person, there is an administration fee of £10 for Wills/LPA and £15 for Wills/LPA and Deeds (combined). You can Pay Online (please insert Will Retrieval as your payment reference) or by cheque made payable to “Thursfields Legal Limited”.

An Executor’s responsibilities are many and varied and can carry personal liability if a Will is not correctly administered. Unless the person making the Powers of Attorney provides instructions to the contrary, the Attorneys are usually entitled to a copy of the Power of Attorney. If the Power of Attorney contains a restriction then we may need to take further steps, including speaking to the person or obtaining other evidence before we release the document.
Like any business, law firms sometimes merge, acquire other practices or even cease trading at which point their documents are passed to other law firms. Thursfields holds wills/original documents for a number of such firms (although is not necessarily the successor practice for that firm). Please let us know if you think we may hold your documents that were once held by a firm that is no longer in existence and we will do our best to check our records and confirm the position to you.
