Twelve businesses help Thursfields solicitors raise £1,000 in a charity football tournament

A six-a-side charity football tournament in Solihull organised by Thursfields Solicitors has raised £1,000 for the Get A-Head Charitable Trust.

Twelve local businesses battled for the “On Yer Head” trophy which was lifted by Kate & Co Intelligent Recruitment, who beat Jerroms Accountants 1-0 in a closely fought final.

Teams from Prime Accountants, BRI Wealth Management, UHY Birmingham, Jelf Insurers, Solihull Combat Centre, UKF Group, Get A-Head and Thursfields also took part in the event at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre.

Robert Pettigrew, a Director at Thursfields’ Solihull office who himself played in the tournament, said: “It was a very enjoyable evening, supporting a great cause and hopefully one we can all repeat next year.

In the final, both sides had some serious talent with Kate & Co eventually winners thanks to a strike worthy of winning any competition.

Given the talent on display, particularly in that game, Solihull Moors may well want to send someone over to watch next year!

But seriously, a big thank you goes out to all the local businesses who supported this event, all the players and everyone who turned up.”

Matthew Baird, from the winners Kate & Co, added: “Well done to Thursfields, Get A-Head and all the businesses who attended to make it such a fantastic evening.

It was a great event and certainly a hard-fought victory – not sure we’d have got there without a great goalkeeper and some brilliant finishing!

More importantly, it was wonderful to see so much support for a local charity that helps so many in need. We’ll look forward to defending our trophy next year!”

Louise John, Charity Manager at the Get A-Head Charitable Trust, said: “It was great to work with Thursfields on this event which has helped both raise the profile of Get A-Head in Solihull and raise much-needed funds.

A special thanks to those in Get A-Head’s team – we had a great mix of patients, supporters and trustees who played their socks off and made us very proud.

Also, a huge thank you to all of the other teams and businesses who took part. We now look forward to making the 2020 tournament even bigger and better.”

Louise added that the £1,000 raised at the tournament will go towards Get A-Head’s 2019 goal of raising £350,000 to assist ground-breaking research and buy life-enhancing equipment.
