Thursfields to give students a taste of life in the law |Solicitors in Worcester

Thursfields Solicitors is inviting applications for its annual “What to expect as a trainee solicitor” week which this year will be held from 22-26 June.

Applications open from Monday 3 February and law students can apply to join Thursfields’ Work Placement Programme, which sees the successful applicants given the opportunity of first-hand experience of working in a busy, fast growing law firm.

The week-long undergraduate work placement programme for just ten budding lawyers will be run from the firm’s Worcester office.

The programme’s content was developed by the firm’s own Junior Lawyers’ Committee and aims to provide useful insight into a career as a lawyer.

The week offers mock trials, marketing activities and the chance to run your own law firm for a day. Thursfield’s current trainees will provide mentoring throughout the programme and will share their own experiences of qualifying as a lawyer.

Michelle O’Hara, HR Director at Thursfields, said: “Work experience can vary in quality and content, but this special week has been put together by our junior solicitors to show budding lawyers exactly what to expect from a career in law.

“They wanted to ensure that students understand that there is so much more to a legal career than knowing the law. It also requires good communication skills, empathy and an understanding of marketing and finance. Last year’s programme was really well received and one student even secured employment with us”
