Thursfields Sponsors Worcestershire Education Awards

Thursfields is delighted to be supporting the Worcestershire Education Awards by sponsoring the Special Educational Needs (SEN) School Award.

With many clients in the Education Sector, Thursfields understand the pressures and challenges faced by schools. In finding practical solutions to the legal needs of our Education Sector clients we are able to help schools focus on the task at hand; delivering high quality education. Passionate about education, staff at the firm, many of whom are school governors, also give up their time to volunteer at schools by getting involved in and promoting careers events and workshops.

Of particular significance to the Education sector team is Worcestershire’s SEN Schools which we have started working more closely with during the course of the last 12 months.  As more and more children are being diagnosed with SEN and the government is pushing for those students to stay in mainstream education there is incredible pressure for teachers to be more diverse in their teaching in order to accommodate children with SEN.

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it was stupid.”

Head of the Education Sector at Thursfields, Lauren Hartigan-Pritchard believes that every child has the right to high quality education regardless of their SEN. She comments “Each child has their own unique abilities and it is the invaluable role of a teacher to find that ability and nurture it so that each child can be the best they can be. The role of a teacher cannot be underestimated; these are highly skilled professionals that deserve recognition for the important role they play in our children’s future.”

In a country in which it is reported that teachers are leaving the profession in their droves for being overworked and under appreciated Thursfields considers there is no better time to be supporting the Worcestershire Education Awards with its sponsorship of the SEN School Award. By sponsoring the awards we hope to contribute to sending a positive message to our local community by celebrating the achievements of our schools and their teachers and recognising all their valuable hard work.
