Thursfields solicitors raise £1,200 for Sight Concern at the charity golf day

Thursfields Solicitors has raised £1,200 for a group which helps blind and partially sighted people by holding a charity golf day in Worcestershire.

A total of 18 local business teams completed all 18 holes in the event at Gaudet Luce golf course in Droitwich, held to benefit the Sight Concern charity.

Extra fun during the day came from a nearest-the-pin and a blindfolded shot competition.

The winning team was a mixture of local businessmen put together by tmgroup and included Rich Nicol, founder of The RE Group, Matt Nicol, managing director at Nicol & Co, Phil Smith, from mio, part of the tmgroup, and Charles Heaven, managing director at Crown Estate Agents.

The tmgroup specialises in the latest legal technology that makes it quicker and easier for professionals to complete property sales.

Other teams were from Nat West Bank, Prosperity Wealth, GJS Dillon, Fisher German, Handelsbanken, CVR Global, Harben Barker and Crowe.

The £1,200 was raised from ticket sales and a raffle, with prizes kindly donated by Brockencote Hall Hotel, West Midlands Safari Park, Severn Valley Railway, Worcester Warriors, Churchfields and Stripes.

Nick O’Hara, Managing Director of Thursfields, said: “This was a fantastic event, with scores of local business people taking part on what was a bracing but dry day.

A big thank you to everyone who donated raffle and to all the teams that entered. Not only did everyone have fun, but they also enjoyed useful networking and raised money for a great cause at the same time.”

Those attending also heard a talk from Shirley Sheridan, a trustee of Sight Concern, who spoke about her experience of becoming blind later in life and the support she had received from the charity.

Shirley said: “Everyone at Sight Concern Worcestershire is so grateful for all the wonderful support given to us by Thursfields throughout this year.

It was a pleasure to attend this successful golf day and we are so impressed with the total raised. A huge thank you to you all.”
