Thursfields Offers Professional Insight at RGS Worcester Careers Expo

Lauren Hartigan-Pritchard, Associate Solicitor specialising in Insolvency & Debt Recovery and Amy Gilbert, Legal Assistant within the Family department helped pupils at The Royal Grammar School, Worcester gain an insight into the legal profession at their Careers and Higher Education EXPO 2016 on Wednesday 16th March.

Thursfields who currently proudly sponsor the RGS Worcester Debating Society were invited to the event alongside many other professionals from various fields including healthcare, the armed forces, engineering and finances. The aim was for them to inspire pupils and demonstrate the importance of planning ahead for University and their future careers.

Lauren and Amy were able to outline the different career paths available to all prospective law students and explain the different routes through which pupils can obtain legal qualification whether that is via university or non-university paths. Lauren and Amy were able to highlight the differences between practicing as a solicitor and a barrister, advise on recommended A-Level subject choices and the importance of obtaining invaluable work experience, whilst sharing their personal achievements of becoming lawyers and dispelling popular legal myths!

‘Lauren and Thursfields have been an invaluable support this year,’ said Miss Waller, Head of Debating at RGS Worcester, ‘enabling some of our students to attend the prestigious Debate Academy, working with our competition debaters and helping us achieve victory in the regional Taylor Trophy as well as a place in Oxford University Schools Finals. Lauren has also come into school to run a careers workshop with our students on the law profession.’
