Thursfields celebrating International Women’s Day

Thursfields Solicitors is holding special staff lunches in all of the firm’s six offices to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on Thursday 8 March.

Colleagues across Thursfields’ offices in Worcester, Kidderminster, Stourport, Sedgley, Birmingham and Solihull will be encouraged to wear purple as part of an awareness day to celebrate the success of women.

Jasdeep Nagra, a family solicitor in the Halesowen office, said: “International Women’s Day on 8 March is a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women worldwide. Each year IWD runs a campaign. This year it is ‘Press for Progress’ which relates to gender equality pay.”

Thursfields Solicitors, in particular, practices what it preaches with 60% of its Executive Board and 45% of its shareholders being female.

On 8 March staff will be able to enjoy a buffet lunch in the main boardroom of each office will be provided with Selfie Cards and Posters so they can express opinions on the issues during lunch.

The event is being organised by Thursfields’ Equal Allies Committee, which has a representative in each office.

Jasdeep Nagra said: “The lunch is an informal gathering, giving colleagues the opportunity to take time to socialise with colleagues and have a general discussion on gender equality issues.”
