Jenny joined Thursfields in 2016, having previously worked at Anthony Collins Solicitors in Birmingham and for the Law Society in Redditch. She is now a Senior Associate Solicitor at Thursfields and heads up our charities work.
Jenny is recommended in The Legal 500 2019 Edition and the Charity Department ranked as Tier 2, which is a great accolade to the work she does.
“The arrival of Jenny Smith brings particular expertise in acting for faith-based charities, hospices and medical support charities.”
Jenny specialises in charity law and has acted for various types of charity over the last 14 years including churches of various denominations (at local and national level) and independent churches, hospices, alms house charities, pre-schools and nurseries, community charities, schools, grant making charities and charitable property trusts. She has also acted for other “not for profit” organisations including Community Interest Companies and trading companies established by charities to support their work. Jenny’s approach is to tailor legal advice to match the client’s needs reflecting the fact that some charities have the benefit of trustees with relevant professional experience and/or paid staff and others are run entirely by volunteers.
