Fogo bar & kitchen helped by Thursfields
Thursfields Solicitors has paved the way for a smart Italian restaurant to open in Birmingham, initially employing five new staff.
Thursfields assisted Fogo Bar & Kitchen in Edgbaston by negotiating the lease, licence for alterations and rental deposit ahead of the venue’s grand opening last month.
The restaurant, based at 197a Hagley Road near Five Ways, uses a wood-fired oven to cook its pizzas and serves various pasta, risotto and other traditional Italian dishes.
Priya Bissoonauth, Commercial Property Solicitor at Thursfields, said: “Fogo has made a major investment in what is a smart new restaurant, and we were delighted to help by arranging all the legal requirements.
This not only included assisting with and negotiating the lease, the licence for alterations and rent deposit, but also ensuring the client’s business did not conflict or compete with nearby restaurant owners.
For example, there’s a Chinese restaurant two doors away and a fast food takeaway next door, and the client wanted to ensure that the burger store did not sell pizzas that directly competed with his business, while the Chinese restaurant wanted to ensure the client did not compete with their menu.”
Azad Ebrahim, Owner of Fogo, said he had initially employed five new staff at the restaurant, with further plans for expansion once it was established.
Mr Ebrahim said: “I’m grateful for Thursfields’ quick and efficient work that helped everything to go smoothly in this venture.
It was an exciting project to launch the business that created new jobs near Birmingham city centre, and now the property’s refurbishment is complete we are in full swing creating a variety of delicious pizzas.
What differentiates us from other restaurants is that our pizzas are made from wood-fired oven burners that create a rustic and delicious flavour.”
Stewart Coles, Senior Associate at Thursfields, added: “It’s great to see the restaurant open after all the renovation works. The decor that the owners have opted for looks fantastic and we hope the business is a great success.”
