A legal expert in the residential property team has notched up a total of 30 years work at Thursfields Solicitors.

Julie Goodman first joined Thursfields in 1985 as a personal assistant to Mark Thursfield, the son of one of the company’s founders, in Kidderminster.

She undertook her legal training while working full time and was admitted as what was then known as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1997 – which is now a Chartered Legal Executive of CILEx.

Julie worked at Eversheds from 2000 to 2003 before re-joining Thursfields where she deals with all legal aspects of residential property work, moving to the Stourport office in 2013 and becoming a senior associate.

Nick O’Hara, managing director of Thursfields, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating Julie’s achievement at spending three decades with the company.

Julie is known and liked for her straight talking. She takes pride in the fact that she does not baffle her clients with legal jargon and ‘speaks their language’.

She has a great reputation throughout Worcestershire and the Midlands as a whole, and is particularly recognised as an expert in shared ownership purchases and sales by numerous housing associations.”

In 2013, Julie was a finalist in the Legal Executive of the Year category in the Birmingham Law Society’s annual awards.

Julie, a married mother of one who has lived all her life in Worcestershire, said: “I’ve enjoyed my career at Thursfields, although things have changed so much since the 1980s.

It wasn’t easy for a woman with a young child to develop a legal career in the 1980s, but Thursfields saw my potential and have always been supportive.

As the years have progressed, I’ve seen and experienced how the company has developed the way it encourages people to think for themselves and to further their careers.”

Julie, who spends her free time watching rugby and cricket, added: “When Thursfields asked me to come back in 2003 I had little hesitation, and that says it all, really: the company was entering a new dawn and I wanted to be part of that.”
