Top solicitor rejoins Thursfields to lead Employment team in Worcester

A top solicitor has returned to Thursfields Solicitors to lead the company’s Worcester employment team.

Lisa Kemp spent more than three years as an employment solicitor at Thursfields from January 2016 until last year when she left to work for international law firm, DLA Piper UK.

Michelle O’Hara, director of Employment & HR Law at Thursfields, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lisa back to the company and are confident she is the right person to lead our growing Employment team in Worcester.

“During her time at Thursfields, Lisa became a well-known and respected employment lawyer in the region and, among other things, developed a successful HR seminar programme for business owners and HR professionals.

“She has gained additional valuable experience in the last year which strengthens our employment team’s offering for the future.

“Being an employer of choice for high calibre lawyers, like Lisa, is important to our business and we value the wider contribution that she and others bring to our leadership team.” Lisa’s period at DLA Piper UK saw her build on her existing employment law knowledge with a range of cross jurisdiction project work, large-scale reorganisation and redundancy programmes, also providing employment law and HR to well-known global brands.

She also dealt with various employment tribunal litigation, building her experience of defending employers from tribunal claims, and advising on the employment aspects of corporate work, mainly in mergers and acquisitions.

Lisa, who lives in Worcestershire, said: “I’m thrilled to be moving back to Thursfields with its continued growth over recent years, increasing strength in the market, and commitment to staying ahead of the curve.

“There are exceptional solicitors at the firm, with real technical and specialist knowledge, and we are very well-placed to offer an excellent service to clients.

“I’m excited to be working with these colleagues again, and to be playing a leading part in the firm’s ongoing growth.

“What I really value about Thursfields is that you’re not just a number – everyone plays an integral part in the firm’s success, and the firm values and invests in its staff to help them grow.”

Lisa explained that she also felt close to Worcestershire as a county and had loved her previous time of being immersed in its business community.  She said that when she moved away she had realised just how much she missed those close working relationships with local clients.

She added: “I’m looking forward to once again being a part of and contributing to the local business community and being involved in the firm’s strategic plans and shaping the direction of travel.

“Returning to Thursfields as an associate director and team lead provides me with a great opportunity to contribute to the continuing success of the firm, to strengthen and grow our offering in the market, and to lead, mentor and help develop our new lawyers.”
