Worcester Baptist Church (“the Church”)  is one of the oldest Baptist Churches in the area.  It was founded in 1658 during the reign of Oliver Cromwell when 18 men and 21 women came together and appointed a pastor to lead them.  In 1864 the Church moved to its current building in Sansome Walk.

Jenny Smith of Thursfields has worked for Baptist, and other, Churches for over 20 years, reviewing their legal structures to bring them up to date to provide a firm foundation for future activities. Churches fulfil their mission by not only providing opportunities for worship and learning about the Christian faith but also by serving the wider community in new ways and more traditional legal structures are not always appropriate for those activities.  Jenny was delighted to advise the Church about changes to its governance to make it “fit for purpose” and provide a robust legal structure which it is hoped will stand the test of time – perhaps even another 350 years!

Rev Darren Smith, Minister and Trustee of the Church said “We felt in very good hands as we were helped, step by step, in moving to becoming a CIO. Jenny was professional and efficient and helped us to understand the technicalities of what was happening. I would thoroughly recommend them to any church”
